Recent studies have shown that for people aged 65 and older, falls account for approximately 60 percent of all injury-related emergency department visits and over 50 percent of injury-related deaths annually. And up to 80 percent of falls in the home occur in the bathroom. These fall-related injuries can range from minor scrapes and bruises to broken bones, head injury and spinal cord injury. Because of these facts we do not have private bathrooms to ensure that our residents have proper oversight and supervision.

The bathrooms are equipped with a roll-in shower and grab bars, so that we can meet each client’s changing needs. The showers will accommodate any type of equipment that is needed for safety including shower benches, chairs, and wheel-in commodes. The hand-held shower head ensures that each client can participate in their own care for as long as possible. The walls were intentionally painted a contrasting color to the fixtures to help them stand out better to a person with vision impairment or depth perception issues.
