That means activity, company and trained staff all day, then supper and a quiet evening back at home.

Why families choose Calhoun
Most personal care homes offer a room, meals and help with daily care. Then the afternoon is a television and a long wait for supper. For many older adults, especially those living with memory loss, that empty middle of the day is where things slip: sleep gets muddled, appetite drops and loneliness sets in.
Calhoun is built differently. Residents who join our adult day program have somewhere to be every weekday, with a team that knows them at home and during the day.
What a weekday looks like
- Morning at home. Breakfast when they wake, and help with bathing, dressing and medications.
- Adult day, mid-morning to afternoon. A short ride to our adult day center for structured group activities, exercise, music and conversation, plus a hot midday meal and snacks.
- Back home for the evening. Supper, a calm evening routine, and caregivers awake through the night.
Weekends follow a slower pace at home, with activities in the living room and on the porch.
What’s included at Calhoun
- Licensed by the Georgia Department of Community Health for 24 residents
- Our own adult day health center in Calhoun, licensed for 23 participants
- RN on staff
- Caregivers on site day and night in two twelve-hour shifts, so residents see the same faces
- Medication management and help with bathing, dressing and toileting
- Single level, no stairs, wheelchair accessible throughout
- Meals cooked on site
- Private and shared rooms
Paying for care
Ridge Manor of Calhoun is an approved Georgia Medicaid Elderly and Disabled Waiver Program (EDWP) provider for both residential care and adult day health, serving eligible CCSP and SOURCE participants. Private payment is also welcome.
Already on a waiver? Ask your care coordinator whether adult day health could be added to your loved one’s care plan alongside residential care. We are glad to talk it through with them. For waiver participants, transportation between the home and the adult day center can be covered by the waiver, and we help coordinate it.
Not on a waiver yet? Call us. We will tell you honestly whether it is worth applying and who to contact. Eligibility and authorization are decided by Georgia agencies and care coordinators, so we cannot promise approval. Where appropriate, a resident can move in as private pay while an application is under way.
Questions families ask
Does my loved one have to attend adult day? No. Adult day is available to every resident. For waiver participants it is arranged through the care plan with the family and care coordinator; residents paying privately can add it as a separate service. Most families who choose Calhoun choose it for the full days.
Is adult day good for someone with dementia? For many people, yes. A predictable daily routine, time with others and meaningful activity can help with sleep, mood and appetite. We will talk through whether it is a good fit when you visit.
